What does Vista Compatible Mean?

I have a laptop with Vista 32 and just bought another laptop with Vista 64.

Will both of the above OSs use the same software?

If a program is Vista compatible…..does that mean it will run on either of the above machines?

Must a program to run on Vista x64 state that it is Vista x64 compatible?

Hello cyclone3211, and welcome to the vista forums :party:

Vista X64 will run most if not all 32Bit applications, As it will not run 16Bit applications you may have problems with some (Very) old games or with the 16 Bit installer used for some older applications.

If you purchase an application which states it is Vista Compatable you should have no problems installing and using it

With all of the problems that others are having with software, I just wanted to be sure on what to look at for the x64 Vista

Glad to help,

The way things are going at the moment 64bit will probably become the norm for new machines pre-installed with vista within a year or so
