Vista - Sony alpha DSLR software problems

I am having problems with the software included with my Sony Alpha DSLR it installs OK but when I restart my computer it disappeared at all that's left is a file in programs named Sony picture utility and inside is a web link to the software support website no help there of course. After installing it a second time I restarted my computer and it went to a startup window named repair or something like that and would not restart after it said it could not repair the problem I restored my computer to a few days prior to all my problems. After looking at the disk in small print a exclaims 64 bit edition and starter addition are not supported but if it supports vista how could not support the 64 bit edition.Also is there any way to run the program like an old windows program.
