I installed office '97 and decided I didn't want it. It wouldn't uninstall from add/move so I tried to do it manually...no luck through a couple of articles at Microsoft.
I am now trying to upgrade to office 2003 and that will not install. It just hangs and does nothing.
Office usually asks for the install media when doing any setup maintenance at all. This includes absolutely anything you would want to change in the installed features. You're pretty much going to end up with a messed up system if you don't have an image file on a hard drive or an actual Office disk of the version you are dealing with.
A lot of registry cleaning apps will have negative effects on MS Office. All of a sudden you have all kinds of problems that were never there.
I would back my data and start with a clean reinstall.
I use registry cleaners with extreme care and do not allow them to do much but delete bad shortcuts and items I am positive wont have any repercussions. I don't let any registry cleaner to do anything relating to MS Office. It's just not worth the grief.
I have the office media for both office '97 and 2003. And now I am having trouble removing another program from Creative I installed. It looks like something was really messed up so I am going to probably do a recovery on the pc and start all over unless you have any other suggestion.
