My Vista burned disc isn't finished?

I burned a DVD of some avi files using the burn to disc feature within Vista. It all burned, everything golden. I put them up for a while, then downloaded a program to burn them to DVD to watch on a player. Put the disc in and a message popped up that I can't remember now, but basically, it's acting as if my disc isn't finished.

The disc isn't full which is why I think it's thinking it's unfinished, but is it? How do I finish it. And I have this disc and one backup disc (which I need to try) but the files have been deleted from the hard drive I burned them off of.

Guidance please?
