No .avi video on Xbox360 using Vista WMC extender
All .avi files run fine directly on an Xbox360 and fine on the Vista computer using Windows Media Center, but will not run from an Xbox360 accessing the MC computer through Vista Windows Media Center Extender function.
Is this a known problem and is there a solution?
Is the lack of .avi codec support in the WMC software on the computer, or in the WMC extender software on the Xbx 360 itself?

Hi, it's a known limitation and a nuisance but there are work arounds available.

Try here:

Easy DivX to Xbox 360 Streaming

It says it works for XP MCE, so I can't vouch for it working on Vista, but it may lead you in the right direction.

Hi Gehuali, I am streaming my sd dvd's from my vista home premeium laptop to my xbox360 using Linksys Wrt54g ($50). I use freeware software to do this and It works great. I get full (no compression) dvd quality sound & picture and there are no crashes, pauses, and I use the xbox remote ($25) to pause, resume, stop, jump forward and backward, stop, etc. If your interested in knowing how just post here. Forget about avi or anything else. You already have what you need. pismojoe
