Hi all,

im desperate for some help!

im trying to run media center through a freeview box i used to use on my tv. the aerial cable runs form my antenna into my freeview box then from the output slot into the back of my computers tv card. However in set-up when i clcik yes to do i use a set-top box it doesnt detect any tv-signal? then if i just clcik next it says no IR input found.
so confused! is this talking about the IR reciever that cam ewith my tv card? or the one on the freeview box?

Basically just need help on solving this problem? what am i doing wrong?

cheers..PLEASE HELP!!

I'm not sure if this will work as it could be the way you are explaining it but if you have a TV tuner card wouldn;t you just plug your Antennea straight into the TV tuner card?

If Freeview box is just the same as a set top box to convert didgital signals then you could by-pass all this as the TV tuner card does the same thing.

You could run the antenna into the freeview box but then a different cable (eg composite, hdmi or other) goes from the Video out of your freeview box to the video IN of your video card

As most of you will have no idea what a freeview box is, it is a digital terestrial (DVB-T) set top box used in the UK.

Hi Norman,

From what I understand....and this is only here is NewZealand. Freeview doesn't work with media centre (MC) because we use h.264 for our DVB-T stream which isn't compatible with MC (only MPEG2 is). You might want to check what they use in the UK. As a workaround you could try using DVBviewer, which if you look around on google you could find a plugin that enables this to launch directly from MC, or you could try (urgh!) MediaPortal, which is a free media center alternative and allows for a larger range of digital broadcast signals.

Hope this helps
