Media Player is not responding

My Media Player is not responding. I'm getting the ehshell.exe at the top and the path \Windows\system32\wmp.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains and error. Try reinstalling the program. Sounds simple enough I go through the progess at Microsoft of downloading and prepare to install, no such luck the version that I'm running is new than what I can download from Micosoft. I'm still trying to figure why my version is newer than Microsofts. O.K. time for plan B I'll uninstall the Media Player and reinstall ...WRONG, why install I program that could give problems that can't be uninstalled and reinstalled, that would make life to simple, and who wants simple. I then dropped to plan C search for an answer on the internet. I came across these commands I typed them in and still no Media Player.
%ProgramFiles%\Windows Media Player\setup_wm.exe
%ProgramFiles%\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe
%SystemRoot%\ehome\ehshell.exe
Any ideas guys or gals?
