Vista - Nero 8 Ultra

Hey

Installed above today and got 2 errors, firstly StartSmart doesnt open at all, get the Nero Ring, but nothing opens.

Also Vision returns this error "Unable to initialize the Nero API"

It worked fine on my XP, tried the CleanUpTool, complete uninstall and fresh re-install, still the same, are there compatability issues with Vista?

Try running it in compatibility mode or put it in the DEP allow list to see if DEP is interfering with it.

Compatibility Mode
DEP - Turn On or Off for Programs

Thanks for the advise but tried both and still getting API error??

I don't have the ultra version of Nero... just the essentials version.... i suggest you try using the custom install path and select only the items you think you will need... it could be something daft like when you use automatic install that it is installing something lick In-cd that is then causing a conflict somewhere on ur pc

I have Vista Premium 32bit and I have Nero 8, and no problems with it. This sounds strange.

Try this: Nero - Support - Nero 7 - Tools & Utilities
remove the nero products.
restart the system &
then try installing it again.

Thanks, but already tried that loads of times, but still Vision gets API error, and startsmart does not open, everything else works fine. I think i will get in touch with Nero people, see if they know what the error means

OK gone back to Nero 7 Premuim and guess what works 100% fine, tried all clean up tools, but Nero 8 SS wont work and Vision wont either.

Dont know why but il stick with 7 for now i suppose
