I tried Dazzel 10.5 software that was supposed to be for converting analog camcorder 8mm tapes to a dvd and edit but it causes my computer to shut down. I wrote the maker Pinnacle and they now claim that version is not vista supported. I need to know if anyone knows a new totally compatible software to buy that will convert old analog sony Hi 8 mm tapes to a dvd and to edit it would be a plus. It all has to be vista capable without a bajillion driver downloads. I have vista home premium on a gateway GM5478 desktop with service pak 1 installed. Any help? Thanks, Sally

Most of that software needs XP Pro SP2 to run properly. I would recommend installing XP Pro and Vista in dual boot.

Personally, I would take those Hi 8 tapes to somewhere professional. It probably won;t cost that much and it will save you a lot of time.
