Remote Desktop connection to Media Center

I have a Vista Ultimate x64 HTPC that is connected to a projector and stereo. I would like to use a laptop or a Nokia N800 webpad as the ultimate remote controller for Media Center running on the HTPC, using Remote Desktop connection. For music this works perfectly fine, it plays on the HTPC via the stereo. However, if I try to play video, I just get a message saying that playing video over a Remote Desktop connection is not supported. However, I don't even want to play the video over the network! I would just like to start the playback using the Remote Desktop connection, and have the HTPC video going to the projector that is connected to it locally.

Is there any way to accomplish this? It's so easy for audio - why should it be any different for video?

Try this, it's pretty slick and should do what you want.

www.sourceforge.net/projects/ngrc

However, I could not get it to work on x64, only on x86. It sets up a Tomcat (Apache) web server on your VMC machine so that any browser can control VMC, including an iPhone or other Network/WiFi attached device. Nothing to install on the client.
