Impossible to work on Photoshop with Vista ?

Hi,

I don't seem to have find something relating to my question/problem on the forum yet. I work, as a graphist, with Photoshop CS on Vista and encounter this issue :

- With the Aero theme selected, somme Aero effects are disturbing to work on photoshop. Moving layers is slowered (like the windows of the explorer), it's not much but disturbing for work.
- If I select the Vista Basic theme I don't have this slowing layers issue but I then have a real big LAG/delay problem when painting with the brush on photoshop (this time : impossible to work).
I read about this issue on this forum :
Photoshop Brush Lag Studdering with Vista
But didn't find further solution.

- So logically I tried to select the Aero Theme and deactivate some of the bothering Aero options (Enable deskstop composition/animate windows). But when I do so Vista in fact automatically select the Vista Basic Theme, so I have the lag problem with brush again.

Out of solutions, I'm now thinking seriously about installing my old XP license on my new computer, but it seems a bit odd not to be able to work with protoshop properly on Vista ?

I have a new problem now with Photoshop and Vista : I cannot save a simple jpg document, it says "not enough ram to proceed". The hard drives are almost empty, no other soft running, 4 go of ram on the computer, there is obviously enough ram to work, I can save heavy psd files but not save as a jpg : )
Does anyone knows what this problem is ? A nightmare this is...

Seems like a Photoshop problem rather than a Vista Problem... your set up is better than mine but I have no problems running CS2 in Vista 64bit. No pen tablet lag either

Thanks for your reply Clevo. You don't have tablet lag on photoshop + Vista ? I'll be interested to know if you're with the Aero theme or Vista Basic Theme if you happen to pass by and don't mind telling me.

Running the same version with no problems. Also have no pen tablet. I also have areo turned on but have not noticed any problems with layers, though mine tends to be simple as I use photoshop as a photo editing tool only.

I wouldn't be surprised to find Photoshop CS giving problems on Vista 64, after all it is a fairly old version. Again, I run CS2. If you depend on Photoshop for work/business, I'd look at getting Photoshop CS4 (upgrade). It has 64-bit support.

Also, according to Vista Compatibility Center, Adobe Photoshop CS is NOT compatible with Vista 64. - Windows Vista Compatibility Center Search Results - Adobe Photoshop CS - click on your version and click the 64-bit tab.

Likewise Photoshop CS2 is listed as "Unknown" under 64-bit...hmmm
