| Vista 64 Bit | Its all going belly up I'm in a right mess and its all my stupid fault, I'm an embarrassment There's two things a stuck program icon (I can't shift it despite having uninstalled the program (Auslogics Defrag Icon) stuck to the desktop like glue, won't do a thing, can't move it. And then something with a program Uguru Utility that I was so stupid to install last night, I was warned about it, and of course last night it showed all the temps as warnings in red, then this morning it would'nt boot, so I had to go into the Bios and change a setting as it had User Define, and I had to alter it to 266 something or other, I think it was mhz, but when I got to the desktop an alarm went off and so I shut the PC off and now its been ok alarm wise, but I want that program gone, out of the system for good, but although its now uninstalled, it still shows up in the Bios I'm sorry for posting two issues in one but I am at my wits end and feel like taking an axe to this thing, but thats my ignorance at not knowing what to do, and panicking as I always do I also don't want to keep monopolizing the boards with my problems others have issues just as bad Jekyll and Hyde |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit [x86] - SP2 | Re: Its all going belly up Hey J&H....have you got CCleaner installed? Did you uninstall Auslogics from Control Panel>Programs and Features, or from Start>Start Search>Type Auslogics>Under Programs, select Uninstall Auslogics Disk Defrag>UAC Continue>follow prompts to uninstall. | Vista 64 Bit | Re: Its all going belly up Hello sassofalco, I actually downloaded it a yesterday but did'nt install it yet, now you mention it I must do that asap, thank you for mentioning it, don't know whats up with me right now ![]() I have UAC disabled at the moment, but did'nt intend to leave it that way, just forgot ![]() Yes I uninstalled Auslogics from the add/remove programs Just ran CCleaner and still the Auslogics icon remains Just noticed that its also the recycle bin icon that when I drag it along, it leaves a copy of it behind, and yet CCleaner which I have installed, I can move that icon and there is nothing left behind Jekyll and Hyde Last edited by Jekyll and Hyde; 02-11-2009 at 09:07 AM.. | Windows 7 RC x64 Vista HP x86 | Re: Its all going belly up Hello Chris, For the unmoveable icon on the desktop you could try unlocker here ... UNLOCKER 1.8.7 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB It adds an item to your right click menu and is very good at removing files etc that will not remove. The Uguru utility should have its un-installer in the add remove programs but of course if you have used it to set BIOS items these will need to be reset to defaults or optimum from within the bios. As I don't have the same M/B as you I can't really give specific advice on these but I'm sure others will be able to help I'm sure this can be sorted - but we may have to wait for someone with more experience |

| Vista 64 Bit | Re: Its all going belly up Hello Nigel, Well I'm afraid that the Unlocker had no effect, the icon that was there would not respond at all, by right clicking on it all I got was the menu to take me into personalize and Nvidia etc........ Anyway, I got so mad with it, that I just formatted again, just could'nt stand to muck about anymore, sorry for giving in but it was hopless, my system is back and going good now, the defrag is going fast......so far, although no heavy games installed, got to do all the Vista updates first but I'll get there, need to get this all done by tonight as I'll be without the PC for the next 2 days, new case and PSU being done.......just can't get excited about it now though. Also with that last Vista Install (the one with the dodgy icon) I noticed that I did not get the sidebar at all, and it was enabled, I had not done anything to disable it. However it is now coming up when I boot/reboot so my thought is that it was a bad Vista Install before this one, so things don't look so bad now Thanks to all for their help and suggestions, sorry I was a nuisance, like a bad smell around here Anyway thats it all uptodate for now Thanks guys Chris |
