| vista home premium x64 | Open Office as a Default What is the simplest way to have Open Office open any type of Microsoft Office file? My Office trial is over and I'm too cheap to pay for it. I tried using the Default selector, but I was wondering if there was a method quicker than going through each extension one by one. I use Home premium x64. Thanks in advance, Bruce |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Open Office as a Default Hello Bruce, You should be able to uninstall the trial MS Office from Program & Features, then set Open Office as default by either a setting in that program or select just that program in Default Programs instead if listed. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Home Premium 64 bit | Re: Open Office as a Default I want to keep it just in case I decide to bit the bullet and buy it. But one can get the full version online much cheaper, and if so, would probably UNinstall the trial vesion and install the new one. I figure the product id/password numbers from an MS Suite bought online would not unlock the trial version. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Open Office as a Default Bruce, Unless the product key number is for the same type of MS Office edition as the trial version, it will not work. If you uninstall the trial program, then you can always reinstall it again later from your OEM driver and application recovery disc. |
