Vista just not that into iTunes

I just updated my XP operating system to Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 1 (32bit PC).

After successfully installing the system upgrade (and all other suggested/important online updates), I tried launching my pre-existing iTunes program (latest version 8) and got the following message:

"iTunes needs to be repaired to work with Vista. Use the Programs and Features control panel to repair iTunes".

Problem is, iTunes no longer even appears in Programs and Features. In fact, I can't find iTunes anywhere to launch it (luckily, all of iTunes' music folders and files are still there).

Re: Vista just not that into iTunes

mate ...give up on that crap app

my GF went out & bought herself an ipod, we quickly realized ''itunes'' seemed to be the only app capable of adding tunes...

(so against my better judgment) i installed it on my W7 HDD, it took about 2 mins to completely crash that HDD, to the point where the task manager wouldn't even pop up...

so i then installed it on my vista HDD, vista was a bit tougher to crack, but in about 10 mins, as i was ready to chuck the tunes on, it completely crashed vista....

i rebooted, to find i had lost all optical & HDDs from the ''computer tab''

in the end i had to ''system restore'' both OSs to remove ''itunes''

im sure ''Apple'' added ''PC'' killing S/W (or more specifically vista & above), much like a virus....lol

Gentlemen- perhaps it's best you continue this intimate discourse between yourselves somewhere else.

I posted about a problem that I did not really get any help with.

Skunksmash- your original reply was more condescending than constructive.

Re: Vista just not that into iTunes

Itunes is really bad with low powered USB connections. Itunes would lock-up on me for several minutes every time I connected my iPhone, but then I replaced my case and also replaced the USB cables that plug into the mother board with ones that supply more Power for the USB ports to work with.

Also, make sure you're not using a hub. I had a memory card reader with USB ports and Itunes would run badly if I had a memory card pluged in at the same time as my iPhone.
