WARNING: only for advanced users who like to clean the registry.

Quicksys regcleaner normally $25 free - only 4hrs left from here:

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/

Win 7 compatible - have used this and deleted all 1200 entries it found. It makes a backup - been running for several hours and reboots with no probs.

Also working fine so far on my Vista x64 and Win 7 x86 installs.

After cleaning you need to shut the app. and reopen it for it to find it's backups. (Easy to find them by hand - it can compress them to.7z files, too ).

Have used their regdefrag a lot - identical scans and results to the Auslogics and Glary versions- so use whichever defragger you already have.

WARNING: not recommended to defrag registry across drives.

Honestly, it scared me a bit. I had nearly 4000 errors it found, over 3000 in application paths alone, and I am running a fairly new install of Vista x64, freshly installed only about a month ago. Since my personal knowledge of what should and shouldn't be in the registry is rather limited, I decided to just leave it well enough alone, and not make any changes.

CCleaner and JV Power Tools 2009, both of which I use weekly, find just a handful of errors each time, and those usually involve files I've deleted. . .

Hi,

Yes it found 1200 on my Win7x64 install.

I run Ccleaner, Glary regcleaner almost every day - if you haven't been doing that, It will find a lot more.

Since I have used their other app. , I decided to let it remove them.

No big deal for me, the program makes a backup and I always keep a fairly up to date image of each partition. Only takes 10-12 mins to restore an image.

Had no problems after removing thse registry entries - I will keep doing it and see what happens.

If you don't already make images of your drive/partitions, it's the best thing you can do.

You can make another partition to store the image(s) on, or an external HD, if you want to guard against HD failure.

The bootable recovery disc the imaging app. makes is used to boot in, find the previously created image, and restore it to your HD.

This is an excellent one - you may find the free version is all you need

Hi, I have been using RegCure on all my XP computers not any registry cleaner in Vista. Been looking for a reliable one. How is it compare with RegCure as you might have experience with it. Thanks.

Hi Bruce,

I have only been using it for a day. I have run it several times , removed a huge amount of entries and it seems to be fine.

The company is small , but seems reputable - and quick to respond to my emails.

Think you have missed the free d/l tho.

I have never used Regcure.

Hi SIW2, it has been over two weeks. How is this Quicksys Regcleaner working for you so far. I got a copy of it and like you hear from you before trying it. I am using Wise regcleaner trial right now and like to switch over. Thanks.

Hi Bruce,

I am very impressed with it . I have been deliberately letting it remove everything it offers - and have had no problems.

It doesn't register it has made a backup till you close and reopen the program. So if you immediately look for the backup after cleaning, you get a error message.

It's not a bug - they designed it like that , not realizing anyone would check the backup immediately. I emailed them and they say they will change it in the next version. It doesn't affect the operation in any way.

Before anybody posts about registry cleaners being the work of the devil, I had better point out I do not recommend anything to anyone . Each must make up their own minds.

Also, I am quite happy to experiment - others may not be.

NOTE: REGDEFRAG is a different thing - there are several apps. that work great on Vista. I haven't found one that works on 7 yet - don't recommend anyone tries to defrag the registry on 7
