OpenOffice.org, Thunderbird, Sunbird/Lightning - Compatible with Vista 64bit?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of going for OpenOffice.org, Thunderbird, and Sunbird/Lightning instead of MS Office - MS Office is just too expensive! Could someone please confirm whether these programs are compatible with Vista 64bit?

Thanks in advance,

BrassMonkey

Yes, yes, and yes.

OO is still only 32 bit and like MS Office, no real plans for 64 bit ATM. Thunderbird with Lightning works just fine (been using it for a couple of years now on Vista x64). In fact there is a 64 bit beta of Thunderbird available called Shredder,

Thunderbirdownload - Mozilla x86-64

that works very well, only problem is that Lightning can be a little buggy on it. As far as that goes you can also try the beta of Thunderbird 3,

Thunderbird 3 Beta 2 Preview Release

which has Lightning included (speaking of which, off to update mine to the new Beta 2 that just came out). Been running the Beta 1 for a while now with no problems.

Edit: Forgot one minor detail regarding Lightning, you will need the new (might say beta as well) version from here,

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.o...ral/win32-xpi/

to get it to work if you decide to try the Thunderbird 3 beta.
