Vista powering off my printer when shutting down

Hello, I bought a new PC with Vista Ultimate 32 bit and I have a Canon Pixma mx850 all-in-one machine, which I had before I got the new PC. Somehow, Vista powers down my Canon mx850 when I turn off my computer. The mx850 gets it own power separately off of the power strip. I didn't have this problem with my old PC using MS XP. Before the mx850 stayed on unless you manually shut it off, which I liked, since sometimes we just want to copy something without the PC being on. Does anyone know of a solution? I've already reloaded the printer driver and one update, which didn't help. Thanks.

Is there anything in the Printer properties about Power Management? If it's being shut down from a signal by the PC then it must support power saver features. You might try the forum of the printer manufacturer. Somebody will likely know where the checkbox is to turn the power management off.

Unfortunately not. I checked the printer properties. It only had only power off icon to actually turn off the printer with no additional drop downs for power management. Vista has a power options section but there is nothing listed in regards to printer power management. As you suggested, I will try the canon printer forum to see, if anyone has come across this problem before, which I imagine they have. If I find the solution, I'll post it for future reference. Thanks for replying.
