Vista - Windows Installer

I Hope someone can assist me with a problem that is driving me to distraction. My PC runs Vista Home Premium and has not caused me many problems since I sorted out the installation issues. However since I installed Roxio Creator 2009 a month or so ago I have had lots of problems. I am now troubled by a Windows Installer problem. When I start up I get a series of messages flagging up starting with "preparing to install" followed by "please wait whilst windows configures the destination" then by "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternative path to a path containing the installation package'status m s i' in the box below" the box below contains a file name as follows "c:\user ALANSM~1\AppData\local\temp7zs9ED" This series of messages keeps repeating for 5 or more times every time I cancel it.

I thought it may have been caused by Roxio so I tried to uninstall. Roxio would not uninstall however. The wizard starts but then I get a message saying "setup encountered an error during installation 'Error Code 04C7" then the wizard shuts down leaving Roxio intact.

Has anyone got any idea how to combat this problem

If you'll still trouble with any other troubles with diffrent applications,you have probabably wrong defined paths in these keys

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Version\Explorer\Shell Folders
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Version\Explorer\User Shell Folders
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Version\Explorer\Shell Folders
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Version\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Check you have correct paths defined in these keys

Thanks Flavius, I note the clean install is for XP, will it matter that I am running in Vista Home Premium ?

Hi Flavius, Have just looked at Roxio uninstall program. It is the same as Roxio Support sent me. Installer Clean Up Utility will not load & using the disable in MSCONFIG do's not help I wind up all hot & bothered and Pesky Roxio still in place

May Roxio is one of many applications with them you have trouble.For the moment leave Roxio.First check paths in above keys what I said above
