dw20.exe MSVCR80.dll was not found

Hi,
Not sure if this is right thread but anyway,
I have recently experienced a problem where a window pops up on start up and says: This Application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Reinstalling this application may fix the problem. On the bar it says dw20.exe.

If I click ok then another window opens and says: Microsoft .NET Error Reporting Shim has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working.....

I do not have Norton and Windows Defender is disabled. I have checked that msvcr80.dll is in x86_microsoft.vc80.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.42_none_db5f52fb98cb24ad under WinSxS. I have not done anything recently.

I am not very familiar with manifests and all that if that is the problem but anyway help would be appreciated.

Hi Devour, Welcome to the forum.

Do you know what software is failing to start??......dw20.exe is just a fault finding program on Windows computers.

One way to find out would be to disable all autostart programs. If the problem is gone then enable the programs one at a time until the problem returns. You then need to reinstall this one program that is causing the problem.

I hope this helps

Hi and thanks Pooch. It seems that the problem has dissapeared for some reason. Very strange. I did nothing and it came and went. I was just looking at your specs. LOL! 8GB RAM? 1750GB HD or something. Xtreme Processor. NICE!!!
