I'v never used Windows LIve Messenger but heres a common remedy for uninstalling programmes.

1. Uninstall through Windows Uninstall or change a program then reboot
2.Navigate to the folder it was installed in eg C:\Program Files\Windows Live and delete that folder
3.Go to C:\Program Files\ Common Files and delete any folder relating to the programme you want to get rid off
4.Navigate to C:\Program Data and delete any folders relating to the programme you want to get rid off
5. Go to C:\Users\whatever your name is\AppData\ and look through all the folders and delete any entries of the programme
6. Reboot your pc

If your using 64 bit vista remember to check in both C:\Program Files\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\ After doing that the installer should work but if it doesnt come back here and we will try to help :)

Hi,
thanks for answering to me question. :) have tried the method u suggested. but still the problem persists. im really lost and i have no idea what to do. thanks. :)

OK im sure you did this before doing what i suggested above lol

1. Click the vista start orb
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Folder Options
4. Click the View tab
5. Click Show hidden files and folders
7. Click OK

If your still unable to reinstall then go to the vista start orb and in the search bar type regedit then hit enter. Then click on Edit then Find and in the search bar type
MSNMessenger and then click find next. Delete what it finds then press F3 to find the next one and delete it and so on untill it finds no entries.

Then repeat the procedure above but look for Windows Live then reboot.

Hello !!
thanx so much for your help. i did what u taught me and i could actually download the installer. But now there is a new problem. My windows update cannot update this 2 updates : Office live add-ins and Windows Live Essentials. If im not wrong, if these 2 updates can't be installed, i cannot install my windows live messenger. Perhaps they might have been accidentally deleted? is there any other way? Thanks again. :)

OK i dont use windows live messenger but im presumming that when you install it, it creates a programme file of Windows Live Essentials inside of which is Windows Live Messenger and any other apps that are part of Windows Live Essentials?
