Vista - MS Works 9 closes when I try to paste

I'm having an issue with pasting text into MS Works 9. The problem only seems to occur when I copy from Firefox, and it doesn't matter how I copy the text. As soon as I try to paste into Works (whether via Ctrl-v or Edit/Paste) I get an error message that Works has stopped working and will close. I always choose the option to search online for a solution but nothing ever comes of that.

I can use the "paste special" option but I lose all formatting. I'd really prefer to keep the text as is. I've seen solutions in the forums for this problem with Works 8.5 but nothing for version 9. I found nothing at the MS website. Any information, links, solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you updated Works to the latest patch/service pack level? Sorry, I don't know what that level actually is, but since it's crashing the first thing to try would be the latest available update.

Afterwards, you might want to try booting to [safe mode + net] and testing the copy/paste operation from there. If that works, then you can use MSCONFIG to zero in on the culprit which is loading in normal mode but not safe mode.
