Hello,
I got a notification in my taskbar that an update for Adobe (8.1.4) was ready to download and install. When I tried to let it do t his, I got the error message below.
My L drive is what comes up in my computer if I attach a USB drive or external hard drive. Why would it want this? Do I need this update?

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

You might want to try running the Adobe update after you temporarily disconnect the external (L:) drive and even reboot the machine with the drive still disconnected.

Software installers which need a temporary drive letter sometimes pick one near the middle of the alphabet (L, M, N, O) on the premise that since physical drives are enumerated from the beginning (A:, B:, C:, D: ...) and mapped network drives from the rear (Z:, Y:, X: ...), the greatest likelihood of a free letter is near the middle. Obviously, that assumption breaks down if there is actually a drive connected with that letter/name! It's a nasty coding practice anyway, if that's what they're doing.

By removing the external drive you'll free up the "L:" designator for temporary use by the installer software.

Hi H2SO4
Thanks for your reply.
My L drive is disconnectedand it's not showing up in My Computer.
I don't usually connect it unless I am doing a backup.
It hasn't been connected since before the last time I rebooted (yesterday)..
but thanks for trying!

Too bad. "Error 1327" appears to be internal to the Adobe installer since the Win32 status code with the same number doesn't seem particularly applicable:

W:\>net helpmsg 1327
Logon failure: user account restriction. Possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a policy rest riction has been enforced.
If searching the web on that error produces no results, you might want to ask Adobe. Please ask 'em to improve their error reporting while you're there, cheers :)
