uninstalling problems

i just recieved an hp compaq laptop as a gift and tried to load the sims complete collection on it. the first time i loaded it it glitched so i took it off and reloaded it but on the 3rd disc ( there are 4 total) an error message popped up that would not allow me to finish the intstallation process. and now i cannot remove the program!!
if anyone can help me i would greatly appriciate it!!! i've tried a number of uninstall programs and nothing works.....!

you installed sims got to the 3rd disk then message come up unable to install ?
now you tryed unistall what did install on your laptop off but it wont come off ?
that right ?

have you tryed going to my compter unistall and remove programmes ?
does it come up with any sort message saying it cant do it ?

but at times i noticed with some programmes you have to remove the icons on your desktop and files in start up menu ( if you get what i mean) befre you unistall the main programme cause it see it as a missing file and wont unistall the icons ?

ya i've deleted the icons, deleted all the folders to this program and tried using the uninstalling thing on my computer, i downloaded like 3 "gurantee" to take anything off ur computer uninstalling programs and nothing works. when i try to uninstall it on the regular computer uninstalling software it pops up that theres an error and thats it. its the same message that came up when i was trying to install it that wouldnt let me finish the installation process.....
