| Vista Home Premium 64bit SP1 | Need help w/ Mozilla install I'm trying to install either Firefox or Flock and I get the following error: Quote: Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features. I've searched for help on Mozilla and found this Could not initialize the browser security component - MozillaZine Knowledge Base This guide says to check permissions on cert8.db file. I can't locate this file anywhere. I'm viewing hidden files as well. I've also uninstalled and deleted all traces of my user profile for Mozilla and attempted to reinstall only to have the same error. I'm on a new machine w/ a few things I'm not familiar with such as Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. I didn't know if this could be the culprit? Any help would be great! |

| Vista Home Premium 64bit SP1 | Re: Need help w/ Mozilla install I finally got Firefox to install. In all my tinkering I probably royally messed something up. Since I was on a new machine and had nothing to lose I did a system restore and started all over. I removed Norton and installed AVG Free. Then attempted to install Firefox again and all went smoothly. I wish I could have found another solution because a system restore wouldn't be painless for anyone having this problem. Thanks for the replies! |
