Vista Tutorial - A service fails to start

I am trying to start a service on my hp dv2910tx model. But each time i try it gives an error, which is as following,

Windows could not start the Ricardo License Manager 9.0 on Local Computer.

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or controlrequest in a timely fashion.

The laptop is using Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I have already tried what the microsoft page says of it. But it is about Microsoft .NET version 1.1 and i tried to download that link and fix up the problem. But it fails to install as another error pops up mentioning that the version installed and the version i am trying to install are differant.

Please help me out.

Did you check to ensure the service is set to a manual or automatic start type from the services management console?

services.msc

This is trouble with any program from Ricardo Software.You have to update program if no help you have to contact with support:Ricardo Company - Overview
