No Real Player in Control Panel

I want to uninstall Real Player 11, but it doesn’t show up in either Control Panel or Revo Uninstaller. There is absolutely nothing showing for Real, Real Player, Real Audio, Real Media, etc.

I have a REAL Folder in C: PROGRAM FILES, which contains tons of files & folders. There are several .exe files (realplay.exe, realjbox.exe, recordingmanager.exe, fixrjb.exe, rphelperapp.exe), none of which work – nothing happens when they’re clicked… but no Uninstall file.

Does anyone know why REAL wouldn’t show up in Control Panel or Revo Uninstaller?

I’m planning to just delete that C: PROGRAM FILES>REAL folder. I can’t see any reason why I shouldn’t, as long as I can revert to an earlier System restore point in case of problems.

Any ideas???

Re: No Real Player in Control Panel

In addition to uninstalling any file, app, or program, I always follow it with an Advanced Search for any files or folders remaining undetected in my system (and there are almost ALWAYS at least one or more remaining files)! Go to Advanced Search, check: "Include non-indexed, hidden and system files," and from Locations, select Computer. Then, in the search pane, put in the name of the file, folder or app you've deleted, and give the system ample time to do a complete search. When you're finished, run additional advanced searches for any additional words or names (like, e.g. the name of the app's publisher) that might be associated with what you're trying to delete. You might be surprised at what your system finds that wasn't deleted with the original "uninstall."

Re: No Real Player in Control Panel

Thanks for the help!

whs: There was no Uninstall under START>ALL PROGRAMS>REAL as per your link, so I ended up just deleting all REAL files & folders. However, that link did help me locate additional REAL files to get rid of.

imperfect1: Your Advanced Search tip helped me clear out the REAL dregs I’d never have found otherwise – but I had to be careful which files I dumped: not every file with REAL in its name was part of Real Player. (Some, for instance, belonged to unrelated video conversion software.)

You're welcome. Yes, you do have to be very selective as to what you delete. But, at least Advanced Search allows you to locate all the files, and then to make your decisions as which files need to be deleted, and which ones you want to keep in your system.
