DotColor 3.0 doesn't run on Vista?

Hi all,

I love the little freeware program DotColor (available here: http://www.inetis.com/) and never had any problem with it in XP. Now in Vista Business 64 bit SP2, it runs incredibly slowly, to the point where it isn't really useable anymore. Does anyone else use DotColor, and have they found a way to get it to run in Vista? Or is there another freeware equivalent that will tell you the RGB/CMYK/Hex value of any pixel on the screen?

Rhese:

Since it ran well in XP, you might try running it in Compatibility Mode.

Hello Rhese,
It looks like Vista is not officially supported, they may update it though.
If you have it running then i think you will have to suffer it running slow.
Not what you wanted to hear, I'm sure.
I cant think of anything you can do to speed it up, maybe some one will come up with a fix for it some time soon.
In the mean time try compatibility mode.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Hello Ardneh & stoneys-nutz -

Thanks for your replies. I did try the XP compatibility mode after I posted here, but without any change in performance. But I think I have figured out the issue; it only runs painfully slowly with the Aero theme. In Windows Classic it runs more or less fine. Maybe it's the transparency. And just when I was getting used to Aero, too.
