Microsoft Office 2007 Help

I just recently purchased a new laptop and it finally arrived today. I have a copy of Microsoft Office 2007 (I still have enough liscenses left for this laptop) which I was trying to install.

I try to run setup and it attempts to load and then automatically closes and displays the following message:

"Setup could not find any available products to install. Please contact your system administrator."

I am the administrator on this computer. When I try to launch setup on my other laptop that runs 32bit it works just fine. Before I bought the new laptop I checked to see if my software would work on 64bit and the internet said it would. Am I doing anything wrong?

On top of what JMH has suggested you may also want to poke around your hard drive to be sure no corrupt Office installation files are somehow on your system..

Also that you have the 64 bit version of Vista is not a problem, Office 2007 is indeed completely compatible with this operating system.

I have the 64 bit OS and Office 2007 installed without a problem. Is your copy an upgrade? That sounds similar to the error I got on XP when I tried to install an upgrade and it couldn't find the product to upgrade.

This didn't work, I elevated my command prompt but all it did was open a black screen and it still wouldn't let me open setup.

I went into the Registry and deleted the rest of the files that came with the free 60 day trial with the computer. Still didn't work.

Its a new version not an upgrade disc.


Now I'm going to try and download the 30-day trial off of Microsoft.com and try and use my code to see if that works. I tried another disc but its not the same exact version of 2007 so my code wouldn't work.

Ok, that didn't work out either. The code is invalid for that copy of Office. Any more suggestions? Is there a way to manually install? The code seems to only want to work with this one copy. I even made sure the code was good by typing it in on my other laptop that works. It has to be something to do with the x64 OS because my other HP works just fine loading setup and my Dell works just fine, both of which are using 32bit. Thanks for the great suggestions so far! I really appreciate all the help!

Not necessarily so. I run Office without problems.
