| Windows Vista Home Premium x64 | Vista Visual Master messed everything up! Hello all, I've been "using" this forum for a long time, as a guest. I finally decided to register ![]() My problem is, I downloaded and tried to use Vista Visual Master (v1.0.2) to change my boot logo as mentioned in this forum. I also had to change the input languge to en-US. It didn't workout anyway. After closing the program i realised that my explorer settings have been changed (While browsing locally, every single folder opens another window.) as well as my OEM info beeing deleted. So I opened the Folder Options to change the settings to the default position. I clicked Apply then OK. I logged off and on again and opened Computer. I double-clicked Local Disk and it opened another window. So I decided to download the theme program again. I downloaded it but i encountered an error saying that windows has blocked the destination (which is the Temp. folder) and now i can't even save a file I downloaded from the internet. I think this is a self-protection behavior becouse of the changed settings. P.S. I also tried to reset folder and desktop options from regedit. Thanks again |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista Visual Master messed everything up! Hello Ualgun, and welcome to Vista Forums. You might see if this may be able to help. Open a Folder in the Same or Separate New Window If not, then you might try a System Restore using a restore point dated before you had this problem to see if it may be able to fix it for you. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Windows Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: Vista Visual Master messed everything up! Thanks for the fast reply. But the settings applied in that dialog, even after a restart, doesn't takes effect. And i only have one restoring point which is after the first uninstallition of the vista visual master. Which is the starting point of my problem. I wonder if I can use the Vista SP1 Slipstream Installition method? |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista Visual Master messed everything up! Not if you have SP2 installed. As a test, create a new administrator account to see if everything works ok in it. |

| Windows Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: Vista Visual Master messed everything up! Okay, I created another Administrator account. Now I can save files that are being downloaded from internet but I still can't change the Folder Options. EDIT** I'm currently using SP1. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista Visual Master messed everything up! Run a sfc /scannow command in your new account to see if it may be able to help if it's a bad system file. What does it say or do when your try to change the folder options? |

| Windows Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: Vista Visual Master messed everything up! Well, It opens just as it should, exept for the setting for exploring every single folder in a new window. It comes ticked as if the default settings are in use, while they are not. I don't get any sort of message box. P.S. running the command in the second admin account. EDIT** the sfc /scannow command has finished its scan and it says it has found some corrupt files but was unable to fix them. Should I post the Log file? |
