Media Player stops working when burning DVD

My OS is Vista Home Premium.

I've just had a new digital aerial installed and would like to use Media Center to record some TV programs and play them on the TV with my DVD player.

I can record the programs OK but as soon as I try to burn a DVD I get the message 'Media Center Has Stopped Working' when this message has cleared Media Center shuts down and I get a further message saying 'Media Center Extensibility Host has stopped working'

Does anyone have a fix for this please?

you could just use a media center extender, you could also just use the dvr movies that are stored in c:\users\public\recorded tv and put them onto dvd via the windows dvd maker :)

Thank you MrNeeds. I'd never heard of an extender. Perhaps I'll give one a try later.

I recorded part of a fiilm using Media Center, burned it with DVD Maker and it worked fine. I thought the quality of the image was quite good so that's what I'll do to start with.

I am however disappointed with Media Center not allowing me to Burn a DVD. It's another example of Vista not coming up to scratch which isn't good enough when you consider the resources Microsoft has at its disposal.

may i consider using an xbox 360 as an extender, it has media center built into it and as long as it is connected to the network, you can stream live tv, video, music and pictures to your tv from anywhere in your house :)
more information here> Windows Media Center: Extenders

in regards to DVD burning, ive never used media center for that sort of thing, ive always used the method ive described above and ive never had a problem with it, it may be a bit more time consuming but it works :)
