installing and re-installing cs3 on vista

ok...after installing cs3 on laptop none of the applications will even open up..except for photoshop in which i just get a grey screen and while waiting for something to happen in that one it says "program not responding". so i am in the process of uninstalling(for over 5 hours now)in hopes that re-installing will solve it.
can anyone offer any hope here, how long should it take to uninstall and when i re-install it if it still doesn't work what steps should i take.
i know the basics but am not overly computer savvy....am getting frustrated with not being able to use the program.
thanks ahead of time!

Re: installing and re-installing cs3 on vista

  1. Start by closing CS3 if it's already open.
  2. Locate the shortcut icon used to launch Adobe Illustrator CS3.
  3. Right-click on the shortcut icon and choose "Properties".
  4. Click on the "Compatibility" tab.
  5. Under the "Compatibility mode" section, enable the option called "Run this program in compatibility mode for:".
  6. From the drop-down menu choose Windows XP.
  7. Click on "OK" to save your settings and continue.

Re: installing and re-installing cs3 on vista

It should not take that long to uninstall, stop the uninstallation and download WINCS3Clean.

Follow the wizard and choose the recommended removal option.

First open run (Winkey + R) and type in cmd. Press enter. In the command prompt type cd c:\ and press enter. Then type regsvr32 JScript.DLL and again press enter. If this fails, skip to the step below.

Now browse the contents of the installation disk (right click the disk in Computer and select Explore) and locate the Setup file. Then launch it manually. The new install should work!

Re: installing and re-installing cs3 on vista

thanks for the help, i didn't think it would be this difficult to get a program to run...i downloaded the cleaner and made sure everything was updated...reinstalled the whole cs3 and about half the programs will open up(better than none i suppose)the ones that open are the ones i need although now the issue i have is the ones that are opening and working ok, when i go to close them they all hang there and i get the message program not responding...anyone know of why it would be doing this?
thanks!

Okay Designbygirl, I'm not giving up on you. I have CS3 and CS4 installed, but apparently this has been a major problem on your PC. How about this?

Error: "Some problems occurred during installation," "Component install failed," or "Shared components failed to install" (Adobe Creative Suite 3)

Good luck!

Re: installing and re-installing cs3 on vista

Hi, I am also having problems installing CS3 I keep getting an error telling me to install the CD that's already in the system. I tried the jscript.DLL thing. This did not work. I also did the CS Clean and the microsoft clean. This also did not work. Please help
