"True Vector" Trouble (Denn).

I read a post by another forum meber and desided to leave a reply.

I hit reply button and quoted poster's text because an implemented feature advised me to do so, and then I wrote a fairly long reply.
Finally I Hit the 'Post" button and waited.

Next I arrived at a page with a message that told me I couldn't reply to Denn's post because it was too old!
Well that was just the right time to tell me, wasn't it!? lol.

Anyway, I had already written the post, and I would have posted about the very same problem even if I hadn't seen Denn's post, ... because there're virtually hundreds of posters who have this specific problem in the various fora affiliated with this one.

So here goes:
*******

I keep getting a message that Microsoft TrueVector Service has stopped
working on my laptop which runs Windows Vista Home Premium. I cannot cancel
the message and the True Vector error is preventing other programs (e.g.
ZoneAlarm) from downloading and/or working. Is there a way to get a free
download of TrueVector that will repair the issue?

I have found my way here in a search for a solution to the same problem.
I have had it twice in less than two weeks: Each of the two times I attempted to update my Zone Alarm Antivirus program.

Each time I begin getting these error messages, and there's nothing I can do to make the True Vector allow anything to initiate.
Both times I very soon had not access to any place on the net, and not to my own computer.

It was such a hassle that I waited a day before I tried to update again.
I did this because my ZA was shown as not working. And true enough, I couldn't make it do anything. I tied to scan my computer, but after between 4000 and 6000 files it would stop doing anything but still be in scan mode.
I couldn't close the program down either. Only thing I could do was to close the PC down by hitting the power button or disconnect it (unplug it.)

Today I received a message from a small program called SpywareDoctor (it scans certain parts of the computer and certain files, but it doesn't fix anything) telling me that my computer is infected by a Trojan ... a Keylogger.

So I'm kind of desperate to find the answer to this problem, and I've been searching for 6 hours now.
I've noticed that a LOT of people are experiencing the problem you and I have posted for help with.
It also seems that True Vector get's downloaded with Zone Alarm, and the majority of people writing about the issue also mentions that they have ZA, or they say the problem started while they attempted to update ZA (= Zone Alarm).

This is also what happened to me.

When I found this group of fora, I found s ingle reply to a post like yours and mine. The replier adviced us to run an online scan and linked to the specific program in his post.

So I hit the button and went to scan and hopefully find something that would point to the cause of my trouble.
But *sigh*, I couldn't even initiate a scan.
So the answer may be the very thing, but if it is, I can't get that "thing".

So NOW what do I do?

It makes me wonder that there're SO many people who posts about this specific issue, which even to the smaller details mostly are the completely same story for everybody.

And yet there aren't that many who knows what to do about it.
I've found one (though I couldn't use his method), and I have seen the first 200 posts about True Vector error messages telling you the program had been shut down, whereafter it - and other programs - can't be initiated again. You can suddenly not access the net (I'm LUCKY to be here right now! ...I had 7 failed tries to get online before I found access via a path I had used earlier on.

Anyway, I've said more than enough (at least I thik I have).

I really, really hope you'll find the solution to this problem, and that I do as well.
Because if we don't we'll have to reformat our computers!! - That's something I can really be without having to go through again!

*******

Okay ... long post, I know.
But I wrote more than I normally do, because I hope it may attract the attention of some of our co-forum members, be it someone who knows how to fix the problem or 100 others like ourselves who needs to read this thread and find an answer too.

Good luck ahead, to you & to everybody else who are in this situation!

*******

That was all for now, folks.
Maybe I'll be back again tomorrow. - I mean, this True Vector issue is beginning to look a lot like a habit and will perhaps in time become my good and trusted friend and buddy as I travel through life and computer crashes.

But at this point I think it's time I continue my search.

So I bid you all farewell, and Good Luck ahead to everybody!

Should somebody actually solve the problem - for me too, I mean, - I wish you Good Luck ahead, and give you my sincerest Thanks!

Regards, ZynAr.

you do realise thet true vector is zone alarms "engine" so the issue is competely related to ZA and nothing else (VSMON.exe in your startup folder just incase you want to disable it ;) )

a very long time ago when vista was just a twinkle in us beta testers eyes the problem with ZA's true vector was prolific and zone alarms response to the issue was to pretend it didnt exist , at that time i swore never to use ZA.

so your answer is either a reinstall of ZA and if that doesnt help get in touch with ZA tech , i can tell you now though they will blame YOU or your OS :p

one thing i need to mention uninstalling ZA isnt always as easy as you would think , it may be differant now but after uninstalling ZA the normal way when trying to reinstall you would get a message saying something like "windows cannot log into true vector service shut down true vector and start again" as true vector is part of the "uninstalled" ZA this posed a few headaches too , you need to get a tool to properly uninstall ZA or manually uninstall it (the instructions are on the interweb somewhere)

i know all this cos ive been through it all before many years ago , ZA is essentially a right pain in the ar$e ;)

Im a former Zone alarm user but had to abandon it specifically for this reason.
