Set up Dual Boot, Vista not activated anymore.

Hey,
I set up a dual boot on my pc and everthing went fine, the other OS is activated etc.

But now my vista has reset or something and the activation was cleared.

Anyone know how i can get it back?It came with the pc so i have no serial code that you get with the disc and i dont see a label on the pc anywhere.

Did it ask you to activate it? If it's not activated it should prompt you to activate at some point. Click Yes and see what happens!

Well when i click system properties it says activate now (3 days left ??came activated) and it says enter product key.

That help answer your question?

Im not really sure about the whole activation side of things, used to activate upon installation and you'd get the key etc

Re: Set up Dual Boot, Vista not activated anymore.

You could try Softpedia.com for a utility that gets the product key from the Windows. If that doesn't work, I'd go on MS site and look for an 800 number to get an activation key or ask them what to do.

Also you don't say what the PC is. Usually there's a support forum for each manufacturer. For instance I use an HP business forum for HP specific stuff. See if your PC manufacturer has a forum where users answer questions. Likely somebody else has fixed the same issue.

Also if all else fails you could try rolling back the service pack. Before I do anything like putting on a bunch of fixes or an SP I make a backup image of my system. I keep the HD usage low. If I have to lay the image back on it usually only takes about an hour. I've lost a few days of changes tinkering with the system but that's better than busted system.
