| Vista Business | MySql 4.1 and Vista Home premium 64 bits Hi, I'm trying to install MySql 4.1 on a Vista Home Premium 64bits machine. During installation MySql is scattered all over the program files and the first thing i see is a problem with writing the configuration (ini) file. Parts of the installation files are found in program files, other parts in program files (x86). With some copy/paste actions I managed to make sure that in both "program files" the installation was equal, it still doesn't work. During installation I specifically selected the installation path, but Vista ignores this. Has anybody any idea how to tell Vista ONLY to use program files x86 because otherwise the program won't work. Unfortunately it is not possible to upgrade to MySql 5 or higher, because than the software won't function. Your help is very much appreciated!! Nick |

| Vista Home Premium 32-bit & Vista Ultimate 64-bit both Service Pack 2 W7 Pro RTM 7600 32 & 64 | Re: MySql 4.1 and Vista Home premium 64 bits Hi Nick and welcome to Vista Forums ![]() What software are you referring to? If the program in question requires MySql 4.1 then, seeing as though that is an old version of MySql, you should check the software manufacturers website for any updates that would enable you to run the program on a more recent version of MySql. |

| Vista Business | Re: MySql 4.1 and Vista Home premium 64 bits Hello Dwarf, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this programmer is "working" for me and refuses to upgrade. The problem however was not in his software, but 64-bits Vista. MySql can only be installed in program files (X86) Use standard procedure. The problem is that some of the folders are installed (without your consent) in C:\program files\. Cut and paste from c:\program files\MySql\ to c:\program files (X86)\MySql\ Then use the config wizard and the service will start. Maybe it is useful information for other people. Nick |
