EndNote x1 Cite-While-you-Write is crashing my system

I am running windows 64 Word 2007 with Endnote x1 cite-while-you-write add on and it is paralyzing my work! The operations work tremendously slow and I have difficulty opening PDFs while I work. When I try to use the "save as" function on a new file the whole system crashes and I end up loosing all my work I put into it. This has happened 5 times. I guess that says a little bit about my learning curve!

This is tremendously infuriating. This add-on is a 32 bit program, so that might be the cause of the worry. Are newer versions of Endnote more compatible with Vista 64? I am not willing to remove this add-on yet if I don't need to, it is the most useful function of the whole software.

Please let me know if there are any patches or alternative approaches I can use.

Thanks!

I used Endnote X2. You will need patch for X2 and X3 for 64-bit OS

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]EndNote X3
EndNote X3 should work properly on 64-bit Windows operating systems.

EndNote X2 update for x64 Compatibility
This patch is an update for EndNote X2 users who are experiencing difficulties using Cite While You Write™ on 64-bit Windows operating systems.

Ken,

I am running version 1.0.1 of EndNote x1. I am not sure if I installed it in compatibility mode. Would that be a sure-fire way of fixing the problem or just a maybe? How does one go about doing this?

Thanks so much for your quick reply, I wasn't expecting that!

Take care,

-Peter
