ripping software

Hey guys, I have vista 32 ultimate. Does anyone know the name of the software and/or where to get it, I need software to rip dvd's. But, I really need the software to let me rip any part of the movie and as long as i want it. I'm doing a project for a celebration soon and any help/info is tremendously appreciated.

Hello Styfa,
Alcohol 120% would get my vote, easy to use and should do everything you need.

There is a 'Sticky' Thread inside of Vista Forums > Software.
It has a list of free programs for Windows Vista.

Anyways here is a link to the program stated in the list for ripping dvd's...

Format Factory is a multifunctional media converter. Provides functions below:
  • All to MP4/3GP/MPG/AVI/WMV/FLV/SWF.
  • All to MP3/WMA/AMR/OGG/AAC/WAV.
  • All to JPG/BMP/PNG/TIF/ICO/GIF/TGA.
  • Rip DVD to video file , Rip Music CD to audio file.
  • MP4 files support iPod/iPhone/PSP/BlackBerry format.
  • Supports RMVB.
Sean, hope I helped.

Re: ripping software

Hi

You can try to use VideoCharge Studio to rip dvd and save to video file (WMV, AVI, MPEG, FLV, MOV, MP4, MKV).

Use VideoCharge Studio, you can:

1. Select a DVD chapter.
2. Set timeline.
3. Extract frame and create image (thumbnail)
4. Use without-reencoding mode for fastest dvd rip.

RipIt4Me is a Gui that automates those 3 tools. You can set it to clean up the vob sets once ripped. If you hate motion menus you can also run MenuShrink to convert them to stills. Just drag & drop the VIDEO_TS folder onto it and hit the Process button. MenuShrink saves the original files in a backup folder inside VIDEO_TS. If it messes something up you can hit the restore button or just copy all the stuff from the backup folder overwriting files in VIDEO_TS to put everything back as it was. Pretty much a fool proof little tool.

edit: well actually it automates DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, the precursor to Imgburn, but you know what I mean.
