Vmware Vs. Windows XP Mode

Hi,

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right section but here goes. I've dowloaded an assessment tool for Windows XP Mode here and this certain tool said that I am unable to run Windows XP Mode. By the way my new operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate. I'm still using the same hardware components as before. My question is, If I can run VMware Workstation on my rig why can't I run Windows XP mode? I haven't tried installing Windows XP Mode just yet. Hope someone can enlighten me.

Re: Vmware Vs. Windows XP Mode

hi oreo27

I had the RC of windows 7 since the day it came out. i installed it and ran it, i then installed it on my work pc a few months ago, it became one of my most loved OS, when I had the RC 7 ultimate x64 - (i know have 7 on my home pc and vista on my work pc) - I was running VMware workstation v6.02 Ace edition I could load and run XP on my vmware and use it. if I was using this version (which an outdated version), you should have no problem installing xp on the latest player or workstation unless something dramatically changed in 7 since the RC (which it hasnt)
give it a go and let me know
if it doesnt work, there is always virtual box

Hi there d3aths3rver,

Actually Vmware workstation is running fine. What I would like to know is that if Windows XP Mode will work on my setup. Because the assessment tool in the first post said it wouldn't. I was simply trying to point out that my rig can handle virtualization so how come it can't handle Windows XP Mode? Hope you could help.

Re: Vmware Vs. Windows XP Mode

Well, anyway, I'll just try and see if I can get it to work. I'll post here with the results. Or else, my need for applications and lack of hard disk space would force me to turn back to Windows XP.

Well, there I have it virtualization support is not available in this system. Sure, that's why I'm able to run Vmware Workstation. Until I get myself a laptop, Goodbye Windows 7 and Vista, hello, again Windows XP
