Vista - Service manual

I am looking for the service manual for the ICL50 motherboard that is in the acer 5720Z laptop or any info on the Insyde H20 BIOS and the backdoor key.
I have tried all the regular F keys and their combinations also all passwords from other BIOS Mfg. Is there any software out there that will access a computer without having the "Boot from CD Enabled" My laptop is now just a expensive paperweight and will remain so until I can get into it, if ever.

You are probably fed up with suggestions by now, "but", if you have jumpers on your motherboard this may work.
The third paragraph could be of interest to you.

Using the jumpers

The canonical way to flash the BIOS via hardware is to plug, unplug, or switch a jumper on the motherboard (for "switching a jumper" I mean that you find a jumper that joins the central pin and a side pin of a group of three pins, you should then unplug the jumper and then plug it to the central pin and to the pin on the opposite side, so if the jumper is normally on position 1-2, you have to put it on position 2-3, or vice versa).
This jumper is not always located near to the BIOS, but could be anywhere on the motherboard.

To find the correct jumper you should read the motherboard's manual.
Once you've located the correct jumper, switch it (or plug or unplug it, depending from what the manual says) while the computer is turned OFF.
Wait a couple of seconds then put the jumper back to its original position. In some motherboards it may happen that the computer will automatically turn itself on, after flashing the BIOS.
In this case, turn it off, and put the jumper back to its original position, then turn it on again.
Other motherboards require you turn the computer on for a few seconds to flash the BIOS.

If you don't have the motherboard's manual, you'll have to "brute force" it... trying out all the jumpers.
In this case, try first the isolated ones (not in a group), the ones near to the BIOS, and the ones you can switch (as I explained before).
If all them fail, try all the others. However, you must modify the status of only one jumper per attempt, otherwise you could damage the motherboard (since you don't know what the jumper you modified is actually meant for).
If the password request screen still appear, try another one.

If after flashing the BIOS, the computer won't boot when you turn it on, turn it off, and wait some seconds before to retry.

this MB is on a laptop and I can see no jumpers everything is solid state and soldered. Thanks anyway.

Number 4 may be of interest, for Laptops. Have you looked there ?.
Don't be mislead by the name jumper switch, it can be as small as 3 pins with a very small plastic cap.


The location of the jumpers or dipswitches may vary; however, here are general locations where these jumpers / dipswitch may be located.

1. On the edge of the motherboard - Most jumpers are located on the side of the motherboard for easy accessibility, verify by looking at all visible edges of the motherboard.
2. By the CMOS battery - Some manufactures will place the jumper to clear the CMOS / BIOS password by the actual CMOS battery.
3. By the processor - Some manufactures will place the jumpers by the processor of the computer. However, note that in some cases these jumpers will be to change the processor and not the password.
4. Under the keyboard or bottom of laptop - If you are working on a laptop computer the location of the dipswitch (almost never a jumper) can be under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop in a compartment such as the memory compartment.
5. Other visible location - While it is possible that the jumpers / dipswitches may not be in a visible location, most manufactures try to make things easier by placing the jumpers / dipswitches in another visible location.

Additionally, when looking for the jumper / dipswitch the label of that switch can be anything; however, in most cases will be labelled CLEAR - CLEAR CMOS - JCMOS1 - CLR - CLRPWD - PASSWD - PASSWORD - PWD.

I came up with some good possibilities for you by searching Google, using keywords such as: ICL50 service manual, ICL50 motherboard, Insyde H20 BIOS,
Acer 5720Z motherboard, etc. I didn't know specifically which ones would help you, but I strongly suggest you take a look for yourself and see if you can get some help.

well i'm back in or should i say partly back in. It accepted my admin password, and now can get into my setup at least. So i've cleared the Admin and my user password . Now to get my HDD clear. So far all I get is The same invalid password or Enkrypted Key 11031732
any insites on that one guys

I have downloaded HDD Unlock and this might work if I can get it booted or boot and be able to change to the unlock disk. Seems that every boot disk that I try won't let me change disks and get a directory where I can start the unlock process.
