Hello I have a problem with Windows Movie Maker. I can import audio and pictures but somehow I can't import videos. I have the correct codecs. Here's a screenshot

Windows Movie Maker doesn't support AVI file formats.

No. That's wrong. I already edited some .avi files with Windows Movie Maker.

Now I have a slightly different problem : some of the files I imported in Movie Maker won't display any image. I can hear the sound of these videos, but I get only a black picture.

I have imported .avi files to MM but they wont show an image in the assembly line. They will play though in the preview window. On the assembly line there will only be a black frame. Since you can review the avis in the preview window you can edit them. However each new segment added to the assembly line will only show another black frame. As I said, they will play in sequence and will preview but the assembly line wont be a lot of use showing only black frames.

You can convert your avi files to mpeg2 formats easily enough. Look for
Gui4ffmpeg3.0 in Google. Its a freeware that will do the conversion. The MPEG files will then play and preview as normal. Not so sure about the sound as I am adding a separate soundtrack and not using the original
