    Software disks refuse to execute

Alright. New here. Never been too tech savvy so hoping for assistance. Also, my apologies to the staff if this is in the wrong section.

This problem that I'm having happens with every disk I purchase. Oddly enough, I can download software via websites just fine. And yes, in Hardware & Sound, it's set to "Play CDs or other media automatically".

    Sooo, can I get somebody's 2 cents?

Hello VLR, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Are you opening the disk from the Computer window and clicking on the program's setup.exe or install.exe type file to install it?

Could you give us some more details on exactly what you are trying to execute and how?

    Huh.
Great minds think alike don't they Brink?

Call me slow but I'm not entirely certain what you're asking. When placing the disk in my drive and after I shut the door, I get no prompt. I'm trying to figure out how to make the "run" option pop up on my screen.

The software in question I'm trying to download is called Brainwave Generator. It has to do with binaural beats, that is if you care. LOL

Ah, AutoPlay. That's what I was thinking, but just was not sure. The option to have CD/DVD to open or run the exe automatically has been removed in AutoPlay for security reasons due to the conficker worm.

There are some hacks out there somewhere that could enable it again, but I would strongly recommend to leave it as is for better security. You would want to be exposed to that nasty worm.

to run or open what ever is on your disk open the start menu, go to my computer, then you should see your disk drives and your local C drive, right click the disk your trying to use and click run as admin or acualy explore the disk and find the setup.exe or install.exe file and right click then run as admin
