MS Office File Extensions

I have a couple of Open Office files that I want to open in Word. It seems like it attempts to convert them however, they wind up being gibberish...

Can Office open Open Office extensions? If not, does anyone know of a quality converter?

You can use this:DOCX File Extension - Open .DOCX files
some more converters such as www.media-convert.com,www.zamzar.com are also useful. HTH.
