built in webcam wont work

i have a hp pavilion dv5 vista laptop with a built in webcam and it worked for about 2 weeks and now when i try to open it up the program opens up but it says "mediasmart webcam cannot connect to this video device(usb video device) please select another capture device within settings or close any applications that may be useing this video device, and then restart mediasmart webcam" does anyone kno how to fix this i have tryed to update drivers but it says its up to date and i have tryed to use acer drivers because i read somewhere that they would work but still doesnt even updated to service pack 3 but still doesnt work does anyone kno how to fix this?

Try uninstalling the device and then reboot. The correct driver will then ( should ) be installed.
