Solved problem with Logitech gadget for sidebar

I hope that this is the right place to post this thread. I am having trouble with the Logitech gadgets for the Windows sidebar. I have ensured that the software for my Wireless Wave Logitech keyboard/mouse is up to date and also that Windows is up to date and I have run McAfee anti virus scans and Superantispyware and nothing untoward has been found. I have been trying to download and install the Caps lock gadget which used to work but no longer does. I have tried reinstalling it and rebooting several times but to no avail. I got in touch with Logitech who advised me to update SetPoint which I did , still didn't work so they very kindly sent me this new wireless keyboard/ mouse combo but the gadget in the sidebar still doesn't work. I also tried the battery monitor gadget and that doesn't work either . If anyone could help me to fix this I should be very grateful.

Hi,
Well it seems you are not alone with this problem according to Google.
I have the cordless wave set also so I just installed those gadgets from Logitech and they work fine for me. I realize that doesn't solve your problem but I thought you should at least get a response.
Are the rest of your gadgets working or are they the only ones in the sidebar?
I'm not sure whats causing them not to work but if I find something I'll get back to you. Sorry I couldn't help you.

Thanks for replying ! I only have a problem with the Logitech gadgets on this computer; the gadgets work fine on my laptop (also Vista Home premium) and also on my netbook (7). I was wondering if an optional windows update caused the problem. Unfortunately, I cannot find the update to uninstall it !

I have done a bit of detective work and fixed the problem. I was able to use the Logitech gadget on my laptop with no problems so I looked to see what was different about the 2 machines and I discovered that I had disabled the UAC (User Account Control ) on the desktop where I had the problem but had not disabled it on the laptop. Lo and behold, when I re-enabled UAC on the desktop, the gadget works ! :D
