Windows Movie Maker doesn't publish correctly

I have Windows Movie Maker 6.0.6002.18005. I have imported and edited an avi file. When I try to publish it for playback on my computer, to wmv format, the resulting video has the image squashed into the upper half of the frame, and the lower half of the frame is a plain green background. Not good.

The capture.jpg file shows the full-frame avi file in Media Player. The capture1.jpg file shows the published wmv file in Media Player. The capture2.jpg file is edited to circle the green area.

Any ideas on how to make the published video fill the frame?

Hi,

I don't know whether you still need a solution, BUT:

I know you are running x64, so this is slightly more tricky. There are two versions of Movie Maker, a x64 version in "C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\", and a x86 version in "C:\Program Files(x86)\Movie Maker\" This solution will only work IF you run the x86 Movie Maker version (not the one in your All Programs list) OR if you can find a suitable x64 port of Xvid (I am looking for one now)

You need to download and install the x86 version of Xvid from here: Koepi's Media Development Homepage - Xvid. ELSE, you can find a suitable port of a x64 version of Xvid with a configuration panel.

Now:

  • Click Start and select All Programs.
  • Select Xvid from the list and click on Configure Decoder.
  • Under the Output options, select Compatibility Renderer and click OK.
Your green bar issue should now be fixed!:party::party:

Tell me of any problems you have,

Richard
