    need help with reinstalling vista to a 7 computer without disk

    my computer was originally a vista. but i got a virus so my husband put a trial version of 7 on it to hold it over. i wanna restore my computer back to how it was when i got it, but i dont have the disks, and when i press f8 when it starts and go to restore image or whatever like dell website says to it says there is no images to restore. can someone tell me how to do it other way. i still have the recovery partition on here i just dont know how to get to it.

    Welcome, you may want to try this. It should bring you back to factory specs. The day it was when you brought it home.

    Here are the recovery instructions from Dell.

    1. Reboot, and press Ctrl + F11 at the Dell logo.
    2. The Dell™ PC Restore by Symantec screen will come up.
    3. Select "Restore" or use the Tab key to highlight it and press Enter.
    4. if you wish to continue, click "Confirm", or use the Tab key to highlight it and press Enter.
    5. When the utility is finished, click "Finish", or use the Tab key to highlight it and press Enter.

    The bad news is many times when you put another installation, as you did, the restore capablity is not longer possible, even though the partition is still present.
