Word 2007 hangs on startup

Hi all, first time poster here. Ever since a recent autorecovery, my Word 2007 now hangs on startup, although it works fine on another user profile on the same computer. I've tried copying a different Normal template (from the profile of a different user) but that hasn't helped. I'm reluctant to totally remove and reinstall because of macros and add-ins on both user profiles so I'd be grateful for any help. Thanks.

If the problem started fairly recently, a quick system restore should do the trick.

Hmm, that's strange. I'd never done a system restore before, but I've now tried it three times using three different restore points and encountered errors each time. System Restore failed. Though this is concerning, the original issue remains. Would there be a way to remove and reinstall Word on just that from one user profile?

If you have the DVD and key it is very easy to uninstall and install, from all users accounts.

Download and use this to uninstall. Then reinstall with the DVD.

Revo Uninstaller Pro - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs, Solve uninstall problems

Now for my concerns. Uninstalling and installing a program is not a problem, but problems can and do happpen. The defense is to make a system restore point, first. I am uncomfortable uninstalling and then installing without that ext4a piece of security.

What is the SR error?
