Tuner reset - reconfig

I updated driver for my tuner (hauppauge 1800) and now the media center can't find the tuner. If I go through the media setup again, it takes forever with the spinning icon. At 1st, I thought the computer locked up and on a second try I let it finish. It took at least 15 minutes and didn't find the tuner. I did a system restore and that got it working.

I am going to need to know how this is done. I ordered a new tv tuner that will replace the one currently in the box.

I found information in regards to "resetting" or clearing the mc configuration data but that was for windows 7.

Can someone tell me or point me to an artical in regards to clearing the config data for vista?

Re: Tuner reset - reconfig [SOLVED]

I fixed it by:

uninstalling the drivers via the device manager.

reboot the rig but do not let the drivers install when the found new hardware wizard appeared.

launch media center. It will fail with no tuner found but quickly. it won't spin the donut for ten minutes.

close media center.

install the drivers via the driver install utility that came with the card. In my case, it is a hauppauge.

reboot the rig.

launch media center and go to tv setup. It immediately found my tuner card and let me set it all up.
