    Installing Java help

I am unable to install Java (Java.com). Everytime I try I get the error "The installer package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can open it, or contact the application Vendor to verify that this is a valid installer package".

    So what should i do?

Check to see if you find any unwanted entry in Add/Remove Programs or Internet Explorer - Add/On's section (Tools - Internet Options - Programs -> Manage Add On's). If you found one, remove/disable this entry.
What is the unwanted entry it mention above? I have Java 6 in the add/remove programme list.

Use this to uninstll your current version of Java.

    http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Download and save Jave to your desktop or documents.

    Then install in safe mode.

Can just uninstall with the add/remove programme?

How do you activate safe mode?

    Re: Installing Java help

you can use the control panel to uninstall, the software that I provided is considered more throught, but the choice is yours.

You turn off the computer, while it is booting you hit f8 repeatedly and quickly. You will get to safe mode. If it does not work try it again.

    Getting into Windows Safe Mode

Before you try anything make a sytem restore point, so you can go back into time, if problems occur.

    System Restore Point - create
