MAYA 2010 Installer problem

    Vista Home Premium 64bit.

    Registry Problem

    I've tried to install Maya2010 on my Laptop (HP Pavillion DV7, Vista 64bit)

    and i got a registry error. when i try to edit the registry to change the permissions this is what i got. even if i edit it as administrator i also got this problem.



    can anyone help me? it will be very much appreciated. thanks!

    Hi and welcome to the forums

    My advice to you would be very carful when fiddling around with the registry, use your common sense and make backups before you change anything.

    To fix this registry error I would recommend using a program such as CCleaner which allows you to check for and fix registry errors and take backups of the registry as well (but system restore points are much more useful in many situations than the backup file CCleaner creates.)

    Use CCleaner with caution and don't make checking the registry for errors using it a regular habit (once or twice a year if you don't have problems) because it can cause more problems than it solves.

    Thanks for the comment but i still got the same problem. I've already tried the CCleaner and the Registry Booster.

    Try downloading and installing Revo Uninstaller http://c0464521.cdn.cloudfiles.racks.../revosetup.exe.

    Run it and uninstall MAYA 2010 using the Advanced mode, then follow the directions to delete all leftover files and registry entries. Then try to install MAYA again.

    What was the registry error you got on the first install?

    Hello Mr. Ed, it didn't even solve my problem so i try to reformat my laptop but the problem still exist. I tried to install it on other computers and it did work.

    you still have the error after "formating", you booted up the laptop with the vista install disk and then formated all data on drive while reinstalling vista yes?
    after the reinstall did you update the laptop with windows update what else did you install? security, video players etc. trying to get an idea on the enviroment here.
    did the maya install require anything else to be installed first? eg windows installer, .net packages.

    Are you using pre-installed Home Premium 64 bit?
    According to requirements page you need Vista Business edition
    to run Maya2010 for both 32 bit and 64 bit editions:
