Ok, what my problem is, is that i recently got that myspace virus on windows live messenger. i followed all the steps to get rid of it, and now its gone, my windows live messenger goes slow when im typing my email and it wont sign in, coming up with the error message saying the service is unavailable. the code is 80040154, and i tried all the steps to fix it, registering the msxml3.dll file and even going so far as to edit my registry and delete the windows live messenger folder. now, i think it is uninstalled, but when i try to run the installer executable, it doesnt open, and am seriously considering re-formatting my whole computer.
please help. =(
and btw, i deleted the WHOLE windows live folder. Now, there doesnt seem to be any evidence of windows live messenger, but i think my laptop might not be fixed.

Well... since you got down to the nitty gritty once you found this virus and started working against it by deleting stuff, you shouldve ran a system scan on your antivirus (assuming you have one because no one shouldnt. AVG NOD32 NORTON AVAST BITDEFENDER MCAFEE AVIRA ETC.) that would maybe have detected the cause of the virus and lock it out.

Now to start again, first go to your control panel and go to the add/remove programs section (actually uninstall/remove programs in vista) and scroll down to the bottom if you see anything Windows Live Essentials or messenger related. try uninstalling those to PROPERLY uninstall it. If it gives you an error, then sorry, you might have to system restore to a time where you havent gone that far in deletion. But if it WORKS, then you can go ahead and reinstall Live Essentials (includes messenger) from microsoft.
